Information You Submit
A name, place, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the independent provider that operates that tool. We do not store or log those search terms on our systems. The provider’s own policy governs its handling of the query.
If you send an email or contact message, we retain the information needed to read and answer it. We do not share that message outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Automatic Technical Data
Routine logs and analytics may record technical details when a page loads, including:
- Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device class and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent
- The referring page, when supplied
- Date and time stamps
Cookies help measure use and support site features. A browser can reject or remove cookies, though parts of the site may then behave differently.
How Information Is Used
Collected data supports a limited set of operating needs:
- Keeping pages available and responsive
- Sending a search query to the selected provider
- Learning which Cass County resources visitors use
- Finding errors and technical failures
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
Links and Advertising
Pages link to Cass County offices, outside receiving facilities, Illinois agencies, federal locators, court systems, and independent search tools. After a visitor follows one of those links, the destination’s privacy terms apply. We do not control its collection practices.
Advertising partners may use their own technology to measure activity across sites and tailor ads. That processing occurs on their systems under their policies.
When Data Is Shared
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be handled by:
- Search partners processing a submitted query
- Analytics providers measuring site use
- Advertising networks delivering ads
- Law-enforcement or government authorities acting under a valid legal order
Security Practices
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used to protect information. No internet service, storage system, or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contact Us page to request deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request, you may ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal data we hold
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete eligible personal data
- Opt out of processing where that right applies
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this privacy notice as practices or legal duties change. The updated text and effective date will be posted on this page.
